SLFM-Certified Green Site
The other day I came across a post in a Forum which talked about how a site can be Certified Green. I did some research, and after reading all about it, I decided to pay the monthly subscription to make SLFM a Certified Green Site.
The truth of the whole matter is- NO business can genuinely BE Green. Why? Because Business of ANY sort is NOT a Green process, in any way shape or form. A Business exists for one reason, and one reason only- to make money. Making money is NOT a Green process.
The best anyone can do is to try and ameliorate the impact their business has on the Planet. i.e. By practicing the 4 Rs at a Business level.
So, while I have the "piece of paper" that says the Simple Living Flea Market IS a Green Site, in the harsh light of reality, it simply means I am paying money to someone who will then redirect that money to an organisation that IS doing something proactive to help lighten this site's Global Footprint.
The only way this site could be truly Green would be to NOT have it online...which kinda defeats the purpose huh?*winks* If I want to offer Simple Living folk a place to sell their handcrafts ONLINE, I have to find a compromise between Green and the Global Footprint that being online generates...and paying a monthly subscription is my compromise, and acknowledgment that helping people lighten their Global Footprint will increase mine.
SLFM- Certified Green?
